Enabling PING reply on a ST610 via Web Interface

If you wish enable external ping-replies on your SpeedTouch 610, it can be achieved by changing the ping rule in the PPP connection from "my net" to "everyone". You will also need to create two new rules in the firewall or turn the firewall off.

These instructions are for enabling external ping-replies via the Web interface, and are based on having a 10.0.0.138 address on the router.

Instructions:

1. Browse to the Router

2. Go to Advanced - CLI

3. Click on Firewall - Rule

4. Click on create and enter the following information
  • Chain - sink
  • Index - 0 (zero)
  • prot - icmp
  • action - accept

5. Click Apply

6. Click on create and enter the following information

  • Chain - source
  • Index - 0 (zero)
  • prot - icmp
  • action - accept

7. Click Apply

8. Click Return to Menu

9. Go to Connections - Routed PPPoA

10. Select the PPPoA connection by clicking on the appropriate line and click Hang-up.

11. Click on Routing

12. Change the Connection Sharing to Everybody

13. Click apply

14. Click Dial-in

15. Click Save All

16. External Pings should now be enabled.
