Enabling PING reply on a ST510v4 / ST530 / ST610 via Telnet

If you wish enable external ping-replies on your SpeedTouch Router, it can be achieved by changing the ping rule in the PPP connection from "my net" to "everyone". You will also need to create two new rules in the firewall or turn the firewall off.

These instructions are for enabling external ping-replies via a telnet session in command prompt, and are based on having a 10.0.0.138 address on the router.

Instructions:

1. Open Command Prompt

2. Type in telnet 10.0.0.138

3. Enter the username and password

4. Type menu

5. Go to Firewall

6. Go to Rule

7. Go to Create

8. Enter the information

  • Chain - sink
  • Index - 0 (zero)
  • prot - icmp
  • action - accept

9. Go to OK

10. Go to Create

11.Enter the information

  • Chain - source
  • Index - 0 (zero)
  • prot - icmp
  • action - accept

12. Go to OK

13. Back to the main menu by pressing enter when '..' is highlighted.

14. Go to PPP

15. Go to ifdetach

16. Enter pppoa and go OK

17. Go to rtdelete

18. Enter pppoa and go OK

19. Go to rtadd

20. Enter the following information

  • intf - pppoa
  • dst - 0 (zero)
  • dstmsk - 0 (zero)
  • src - 10.0.0.0 (or internal IP address of LAN)
  • srcmsk - 0 (zero)
  • metric - 0 (zero)

21. Go OK

22. Go to ifattach

23. Enter pppoa and go OK

24. Back to the main menu by pressing enter when '..' is highlighted.

25. Go to Cancel

26. This should take you back to the original telnet prompt =>

27. In the => prompt type saveall

28. Type exit

29. External Pings should now be enabled.
