Setting Static IP address on Mac OSX Overview IP addresses can be automatically assigned (using DHCP) by all Speedtouch routers. In some cases, you may need to set these addresses statically on your computer. You will need to do this, on the most part, for the following reasons;
There are other circumstances that may also require these addresses to be set. Problem You need a static IP address set on a computer inside your LAN. Solution When a static IP is required in your LAN, the following steps show how to set this address and other TCP/IP attributes. 1. Click on the Apple menu and select 'System Preferences'
3. Click on 'Network'
4. Ensure that Location and Show are set to 'Automatic' and 'Built-in Ethernet' respectively
5. Under the TCP/IP tab, set 'Configure IPv4:' to 'Manually' 6. Enter the IP address you want the Mac to have, the subnet mask, router address and the DNS addresses. In this example we are setting the IP address to 10.0.0.1 and have a router IP address of 10.0.0.138 (the Speedtouch default IP address).
7. Click on 'Apply Now' and close the Network window You should now be able to surf the internet
again using your static address |
