Port Forwarding on ST500 Series Routers

Firmware Release R4.3

Creating Gaming and Application port forwarding (Pinholes)

Port Forwarding has undergone significant change since R4.2 and earlier releases. Pinholes are now created by assigning a game or application to a specific device and port assignment should only be required if the service is not in the application pool.

Static IP address are no longer required on terminating devices as assignment can be made per DEVICE name.

UPnP and Port forwarding

Applications using UPnP will automatically instruct the router to open the required NAT ports. Manual creation of static bindings or pinholes is not required. If this does not occur please check UPnP setting on router.

Forwarding Public IP Address to Ethernet Port (LAN)

Again this has significantly changed since R4.2 and earlier releases. Public IP address assignment can now be assigned to a network device name or MAC address. This assignment creates a unique entry to your local network, effectively a DMZ zone.

For an example on creating a DMZ on R4.3 please click HERE
