ADSL Line Statistics & Connectivity Test

Firmware Release R4.3

Overview

If you are experiencing problems either connecting to the internet or surfing, R4.3 firmware has a number of tools to assist your ISP and modem support team to identifying the problem.

1/ Connectivity Check - this is an embedded test system that runs a series of tests over the Physical layer to Network layer.

2/ DSL Connection - this is a view of all the critical ADSL Line performance indicators.

Instructions:

RUN CONNECTIVITY TEST

1. Open your web browser, e.g. Internet explorer, and type in the routers IP address in the address bar (default address is 192.168.1.254 or 10.0.0.138).

2. Click 'Broadband Connection'.

3. Click 'Check connectivity to the internet'.

4. Click 'Check Connectivity'

5. Wait for check to run (blue progress bar moves from left to right).

6. The results will be displayed.  In some cases you may received a RED X’s in the Internet box and next to the DNS servers. This does not mean the service is faulty, only that our ISP (in this case XTRA) has ping replies turned of on the DNS server.

A SUCCESSFUL CONNECTIVITY TEST to your ISP gateway with a public IP address shown (in this case 210.86.78.1) would indicate your service is working.

NOTE : Please take note of these results, as they will assist your ISP helpdesk or the SpeedTouch helpdesk in identifying any issue you have.

Check ADSL LINE STATISTICS

7. Click 'Broadband Connection' then 'DSL Connection'.

8. Click 'Details'

9. The information to take not of here are the ‘Bandwidth [up/down]’ and ‘Line attenuation [up/down]’

NOTE : Again please take note of these results, as they will assist your ISP helpdesk or the SpeedTouch helpdesk in identifying any issue you have.
